The physical aspect of a spinal cord injury or other neurological injury takes center stage in the recovery process. However, families going through this quickly discover the financial impact of such injuries can also be devastating. According to The University of Alabama National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the first year after an injury can cost upwards of a million dollars with each subsequent year ranging from $40,000 to $170,000.
For many, the cost can be a barrier to the physical and mental benefits of participating in a neurorecovery program. In an effort to help families with this dilemma, the CORE Foundation was established in 2011. The mission of the CORE Foundation is to provide needed financial support and education for individuals with spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions to participate in an activity-based recovery program. The CORE Foundation also provides funding to qualified individuals for training with the ReWalk Exoskeleton through the ReWalk Access Program. The support of the CORE Foundation has allowed many CORE clients to focus on their recovery goals, improve their overall health and increase their independence.
So many amazing individuals and organizations have embraced the CORE Foundation’s mission, and it is through their generosity that the Foundation has been able to fund hundreds of training hours to an underserved population. These contributions to the CORE Foundation allow individuals to access the services they need that were previously unattainable.
