Last weekend the CORE training staff participated in the CPR/First Aid Certification program provided by American Red Cross. We always promote a safe environment and take every precaution to be ready in case of an emergency! Well…..little did we know that we’d actually be performing REAL LIFE First Aid that day! One of the participants in the class didn’t make the instructor or anyone else aware that they did not do well at the sight of blood. As we’re watching a video on the proper way to administer care to a wound and stop the bleeding, all of a sudden we hear a loud “BOOM!” and a young gentleman was passed out on the floor. I thought he just fell out of his chair at first, but then we came to realize he had really passed out.
As emergency protocol has it, one student was told to call 9-1-1 while I was sent to flag down the ambulance and guide the paramedics to the scene of the accident. TALK about a wild experience! Just goes to show, you never know what’s going to happen on any expected day and its ALWAYS good to be prepared! Fortunately, the young gentleman was fine and told us later that this has happened in the past. I’ve heard this happens quite frequently with a number of people at the sight of blood. I guess I’m just opposite and have always liked watching Rescue 9-1-1 and those kind of shows!
Here’s some pictures of the team in action practicing CPR on adults and children. If anyone hasn’t gone through this course, I highly recommend it! It is a great learning experience and can truly help save a person’s life!
